At P.R.Jones and Associates we are here to look after the whole family. It is important for children to attend a dentist from a young age and we support the Dental Check by One campaign. Taking your baby to the dentist when their teeth first come through or by the age of one at the latest, gets them off to a healthy start and accustomed to dental practices visits. We can support you and your child to look after your teeth at all stages. We have close links with local health visitors and school nurses to help children access dental care. We also have good connections with local schools and offer in class prevention advice to school pupils.

Prevention

Top tips for cleaning teeth:

 • Brush your teeth twice a day, once before bed and once at any other time that suits your routine.

 • Use a fluoride toothpaste. Toothpaste that contains 1350 to 1500ppm fluoride gives you the best protection.  The amount of fluoride in toothpaste can be found on the tube or on the packaging.

 • Spit, don't rinse. Toothpaste builds a protective layer of toothpaste around your teeth, if you rinse your mouth with water you will wash it away.

 • Eat less sugar, less often. Sugary drinks and food should be eaten less often and only at meal times.

 • Visit your dentist regularly. Register your baby at the dentist as soon as their first tooth starts coming through.

We are part of the NHS Flexible Commissioning programme. This gives us the resources to help you gain good oral hygiene and habits for you to start at home.

Your dentist may refer you to one of our prevention clinics. These clinics will provide you with information and advice on how you could improve on your current habits and routines. Toothbrushing instruction is given either using a model or demonstrated by you so our oral health trained nurses can advise on how you could improve your technique. A follow up appointment is usually made. During this appointment your oral health trained nurse will disclose your teeth. This is a solution that sticks to the plaque on your teeth so we can see which areas are being missed during toothbrushing, from this we can demonstrate and practise a customised brushing technique and advise were needed. So far, our clinics have proved to be very encouraging and have had a positive outcome for many of our patients.

We are able to accept referrals from General Dental Practitioners for routine dental treatment. Please contact us or complete our online referral form.
